About

Welcome

The Self-Care Food Council was established in April 2022 as an organization of corporate volunteers to implement the various achievements of the research project entitled "Contribution to the Extension of Healthy Life Expectancy through the Establishment of a Health System through Food," one of the Technologies for Smart Bio-Industry and Agriculture under the Cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP) Phase 2 (2018-2022) initiated by the Cabinet.

Under Bio-Strategy 2020 (market area: lifestyle improvement healthcare), Japan aims to develop the market by leveraging big data technologies to aggregate and analyze health and medical data that has been previously held unused by different parties and combine it with biotechnology by 2030. Additionally, through the discovery and development of health-promoting foods and customized food services, the aim is to create a seamless social system that enables self-care and early detection of potential illnesses, prevention of metabolic disorders, the treatment and prevention of organ dysfunction and associated exacerbation and recurrence. The end goal is to pioneer this system worldwide and capture the global market.

One of the basic concepts of Oriental medicine is that "medicine and food come from the same source." Food is an essential element of life that nourishes us and helps us live long and healthy lives. In order to achieve this, it is important to visualize the health of the individual using appropriate methods, and to create and implement a social system that recommends self-care foods using agricultural products with clearly defined nutritional and functional components that are suitable for each individual's health.

The Self-Care Food Council is actively working with member companies and stakeholders to address collaborative areas and solve social issues that cannot be tackled by individual companies, with the aim of realizing a happy, healthy, and long-lived society through food, for the next 100 years.

We ask for your continued support and cooperation, and sincerely hope that through the activities of this organization that a prosperous and healthy society can be achieved.
